A PAIR OF BRASS-HILTED BAYONETS. being 1) a French Model 1866 Chassepot sword bayonet, dated 1874, with 22 1/2 in. single-edged steel blade fullered on each side, the back engraved with manufacturer de Chatellerault Arsenal, ricasso with inspection marks, cross-guard numbered 'A C 19816', quillion with inspection marks, together with its steel scabbard numbered '13338', blade and scabbard pitted and rusted, scabbard missing frog attachment; 2) a 20th Century Indian copy of a United States Model 1871 Remington Rolling-block sword bayonet, 20 in. steel blade fullered on each side, ricasso stamped 'INDIA, together with its crudely manufactured black leather and brass scabbard, worn and rusted, 26 in. overall
